We drink filtered water, use non-allergenic detergents, and try to refrain from too much candy. But what about the air we breathe? This is what flashed through Ray Wu's mind as he stepped off a plane in Beijing into a thick shroud of smog. The air smelled of scorched metal, a brown haze obscurred the landscape, and his throat felt immediately coated with dust. Later on in the trip, the sky turned back to blue—but the sickness continued, and he wasn't sure why. He realized that he needed a device that could sense the air and clean it up as needed—wherever he went. In 2014, Ray gathered a team of fellow MIT engineers and renowned designers to create Wynd.
Our mission is to bring clean air to people, wherever they go.
We aim to help people stay aware of the air around them, and we want to provide the means to clean it up. We've built several patented technologies: a wearable air quality monitor, a powerful personal air purifier, and a comprehensive mobile app that displays deep insights about your environment. We have users all over the world, and our goal is to create a crowdsourced, ultra-granular air quality map of the entire globe. We want to make the invisible visible.

Ray was inspired to found Wynd after a trip to visit his relatives in Beijing, where industrial pollution plagued the air. He brings expertise from his prior careers in engineering, consulting, and technology investing. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.
As CTO, Jason leads Wynd’s product engineering and development. He brings his expertise in air quality, data analysis, and machine learning from working on research at a VOC sensor company (now Honeywell). Jason holds a B.S. in Math and Physics from MIT.
As Designer, Anna creates the user experience and interface for Wynd’s products. She brings her expertise from leading product design for a plethora of tech companies big and small. She holds a B.S. in Rhetoric from the University of Texas at Austin.
As Hardware Engineer, Eric leads Wynd’s internal airflow design and mechanical engineering. He brings his expertise with fluid dynamics and airflow analytics from working on rocket and jet engines at Florida Turbine Technologies. Eric holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from MIT and a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Stanford.
As a Electrical Engineer, Danny leads Wynd’s firmware and schematic design. Danny joined the Wynd team when founder Ray Wu asked his friend who the smartest electrical engineer from MIT was—and the friend introduced Ray to Danny. Danny holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.
As a Software Engineer, Brendan develops Wynd’s iOS applications. He brings his expertise from working on IoT platforms, robotics, drone technology, and vintage electronics. Brendan holds a B.S. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from MIT.
